Allen Bradley AC Spindle Motor Repair

We often see the 1327 Allen Bradley High Performance AC spindle motor series in for repair. All spindle motors sent to us receive rigorous testing-

to ensure key individual components operate at industry standards. In addition, we only use OEM parts in our repairs, and every step of the process—from machining to winding—is completed in-house. Once we do all of the necessary testing, it will determine where we go during the repair:

• If the stator is shorted, it goes to our winding department for rewind
• If end bells or shaft need machining, they go to our machining center
• During a standard repair, we wash and bake the stator and rotor, change bearings with high performance bearings, put new seals, replace any broken connectors, recondition fan assembly.

During our evaluation process, this spindle was found to be shorted by way of a surge test. The motor is brought into our winding department and a full rewind was needed. We use high voltage, Nano-shielded wire, and special insulation for each individual slot. New leads are connected as well.

We then assemble the motor, and run-test it with the 1392 Allen Bradley drive test fixture to verify that it is set to the correct OEM specs.
